A heritage consultant agency was looking to revamp their space, I was brought on board to offer conceptual and design services. The brief was to uplift the internal space, focusing on noise reduction, space planning and look and feel.

The client had a strong interest in retro furniture and second hand finds, an existing cabinet was to be incorporated into the space which drove the design direction.

The layout was designed to accommodate a meeting area, eating area, open desk space, private office, reception area and a space for personal chats and calls. I decided to merge the meeting area and eating area as we were limited with space, and placed it close to the kitchenette. Opposite the kitchenette I designed a think tank made up of laminated glass for sound reduction during private calls and chats. It also helps by not blocking out any natural light coming into the space.

My material selection was to use raw woods and concrete, being a heritage firm dealing with architects on a daily basis I thought it fit.  I pushed the concept of old and new in the desk design and walls, the meeting room wall was knocked back to expose brick on the right side while plastered and painted on the left side. The desks were designed by mixing a high gloss supawood and timber.
